Supporting OSU Sustainability

We are always working on various projects to help make the OSU community more sustainable. The projects listed below are currently active and seeking support.  They will help OSU meet its sustainability goals and work towards being carbon neutral by 2025

If you would like to learn more about the Sustainability Office's work, please reach out through the "Contact" button below. Our newsletter and Facebook page also keep the community up to date on recent activities!

Sponsor a Building’s Renewable Energy Purchase

Donors have the opportunity to sponsor the purchase of renewable energy for a building of their choice. Electricity from the building is offset by the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Those that choose to sponsor a building (or complex of buildings) have the option to donate $20 - $200 per year. Buildings will include those of the College of Forestry and/or College of Engineering.

Support the Purchase of Carbon Offsets for Student Travel

The Sustainability Office recently launched an opt-in program to offset carbon emissions from travel. Some students may be unable to purchase offsets for their OSU-funded academic trips due to a lack of funding. Donors are able to sponsor offset purchases for specific academic trips taking place throughout the year.

Implementation of Richardson Hall Retrocommissioning Project

The home of OSU's Department of Wood Sciences and Engineering will be undergoing renovations to reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Donors have the opportunity to support the implementation of the retrocommissioning of Richardson Hall.

Sponsor Green Certification Implementations

Help an office, lab, or Greek organization reach their Green Certification goal! The Green Certification program assesses existing practices and assigns a certification level based on an entity’s score. Customized recommendations for improvement to reach the next certification level are provided after the initial scoring.

Many units work to earn a higher certification level, but implementation is often a challenge. Your donation would support the implementation of recommendations for a specific entity and help them achieve more sustainable practices.

Contribute to the Sustainability Fund

Contributions to the Sustainability Fund support carbon reduction projects on campus. Retrocomissioning projects improve the operations and maintenance of buildings by upgrading systems such as lighting installations and heating and cooling systems.
