GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

The ISSUING AGENT issues, exchanges, and checks in such items as uniforms, towels, clothing, locks, keys, baskets, lockers, laboratory supplies, and a variety of equipment to employees, the public, students, and faculty.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

This is a single classification and not currently part of a series of classes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Dispersal of Items. Typical tasks: issues, exchanges, and checks in such items as uniforms, towels, clothing, locks, keys, baskets, lockers, supplies, and equipment to employees, the public, students, and faculty; collects money for fees, issues receipts, and records payments; checks, marks, and stocks supplies and equipment; keeps records on lost, damaged, or broken items; adds and deletes items on inventory records.
  2. Information Resource. Typical tasks: explains issuing policies and procedures to users; provides information to students, faculty, and the public on applicable activities and schedules.
  3. Preventive Maintenance. Typical tasks: maintains the issuing facility in a clean and orderly fashion; washes and disinfects sinks, cupboards, baskets, and lockers where applicable; opens and secures the facilities; sends equipment out for repairs and may perform minor repairs to equipment or facility; may monitor ROTC uniform budget; may order and pick up uniforms from military base; may authorize payment for uniforms.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS

Employees in this class are in regular telephone or in person contact with employees, the public, students, and faculty to issue items, explain issuing policies, issue receipts for fee payments, and provide information on activities and schedules. They are in occasional telephone or in person contact with the physical plant to request repairs or maintenance work.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Employees in this class receive close supervision from an administrative superior through direct observation of performance. Work performed by employees in this class must also comply with operating procedures and agency policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
