Enhanced volunteer management services ease workload in departments

Over the past year, University Human Resources, in collaboration with the Enterprise Project Portfolio Management Office (EPPMO), University Information Technology (UIT), and Division of Finance and Administration Information Technology (DFA IT), has developed an initiative to centralize and enhance the tracking of volunteer coordination and management across the university. UHR will soon launch a Volunteer Management System that departments will be able to use to register and track volunteer populations.

In winter 2024, UHR is piloting the program with Athletics.  After successful completion of the pilot phase, the Core Team will begin scheduling training sessions across the university.  The Core Team will provide support to departments and units as they begin to use the new volunteer tracking process.  Training will take place over the remainder of the fiscal year with everyone on board by summer 2024.

General questions, comments, or concerns can be addressed to volunteercordinationproject@oregonstate.edu. A website with information about managing volunteer programs is being updated.

Updates to OSU’s Critical Training Program

The Office of University Human Resources recently partnered with OSU’s Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) and Academic Technologies to enhance the quality and accessibility of the online Critical Trainings produced by the university. Updates include:

  • Caption enlargement
  • The ability to slow down/speed up video playback
  • New conclusion slides, featuring:
  • An acknowledgement of the importance of the Critical Training Program
  • Recognition of the user’s time to engage with the Program
  • Clarification on each training’s recertification requirements (and what to expect)
  • Course completion instructions

In December 2023, updates were made to the Equal Opportunity & Access Critical Training. In response to the new House Bill 3456, the Preventing Sexual Harassment module has been re-introduced as a stand-alone training with an annual recertification requirement. The original training has been renamed Promoting Equal Opportunity & Inclusion. It continues to include the original modules (Discrimination & Prohibited Behaviors and Inclusion & Access). There were no changes to the two-year recertification requirement for this training.
