Grads Give Back is a student-started program seeking to reduce barriers that under-resourced students might experience as they near graduation. In addition to that, the program breathes new life into what are traditionally single-use garments by allowing graduates to donate their gown for someone to use next year.
Grads Give Back is the result of collaboration among staff of the Associated Students of OSU (ASOSU), Campus Recycling, Memorial Union (M.U.) and Valley Library.
How to Give Your Gown
Do you already have a gown or plan to acquire one for 2022? Please consider giving your gown and keeping your cap and cords as a memento!
Gowns can be donated on Commencement day through 6:00 pm, at the Valley Library through Tuesday, June 14th, or year-round at the M.U.
Valley Library: In the bin at the main entrance June 11-14 only, during open hours:
Commencement day, 10 am - 6 pm
Sunday, 1-9 pm
Monday-Tuesday, 7:30 am - 9 pm
M.U. Info Desk: Year-round during open hours:
Commencement day, 7 am - 6 pm
Summer hours start Monday, June 13th: 8 am - 4 pm
By mail: Accepted year-round by mailing them to: Michelle Rucker, 2501 SW Jefferson Way, MU 112, Corvallis, OR 97331
We are able to accept gowns if they are in good condition (not ripped, damp or damaged), solid black, and Jostens brand. We cannot accept caps, cords, or tassels.
How to Receive a Gown
Unfortunately we do not have gowns available for 2022.
While OSU did not host a full, in-person Commencement in 2020 or 2021, gowns were made available for smaller ceremonies and graduation photographs. Because there was not full scale collection and few people returned them, our inventory has been depleted. Program partners are hard at work developing and implementing marketing to collect donations in 2022 so the program can continue next year. We are sorry we cannot support our students in this way, this year.
