Grads Give Back is a student-started program seeking to reduce barriers that under-resourced students might experience as they near graduation. In addition to that, the program breathes new life into what are traditionally single-use garments by allowing graduates to donate their gown for someone to use next year.

Grads Give Back is the result of collaboration among staff of Campus Recycling, Associated Students of OSU (ASOSU), Memorial Union, Valley Library, Human Services Resource Center (HSRC), and Sustainability Office.

How to Give Your Gown

As of July 1st, Campus Recycling received donations of 64 gowns. However, we are not done collecting yet! We are still accepting gowns in good condition (no ripped/damp/damaged gowns and no caps, cords, etc.) at the Memorial Union Info Desk, which is open Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5pm during the summer. Gowns will be accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year unless otherwise noted on this webpage. The MU will also accept mailed gowns, which can be sent to: Marriah De La Vega, 2501 SW Jefferson Way, MU 112, Corvallis, OR 97331.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated! Your donations will help other students who may not be able to participate in Commencement otherwise.

Are you graduating and walking in Commencement 2020? Give your gown after the ceremony and keep your cap and cords as a memento! More details on how will be added to this site in spring 2020.

How to Receive a Gown

Students who feel that the cost of purchasing a graduation gown would prevent them from participating in Commencement with their peers are encouraged to pick up a free gown in week three of spring term!

Gown distribution has already passed for 2019 (hosted at the MU Info Desk April 15-19, but all of them were gone by the end of day one). Details for 2020 gowns will be added in late winter or early spring term.
