Grads Give Back is a student-started program seeking to reduce barriers that under-resourced students might experience as they near graduation. In addition to that, the program breathes new life into what are traditionally single-use garments by allowing graduates to donate their gown for someone to use next year.
Grads Give Back is the result of collaboration among staff of the Associated Students of OSU (ASOSU), Campus Recycling, Memorial Union (M.U.) and Valley Library.
How to Give Your Gown
Do you already have a gown or plan to acquire one? Please consider giving your gown and keeping your cap and cords as a memento! Gowns can be donated year-round at:
The M.U. Info Desk during M.U. open hours
By mailing them to the M.U., addressed to: Michelle Rucker, 2501 SW Jefferson Way, MU 112, Corvallis, OR 97331
We are able to accept gowns if they are in good condition (not ripped/damp/damaged), solid black, and Jostens brand. We cannot accept caps, cords, or tassels.
How to Receive a Gown
While OSU will not host an in-person Commencement in 2021, our partners at the Memorial Union are able to lend gowns to students who feel that the cost of purchasing one would prevent them from participating in other graduation events or photographs.
Gowns will be first come, first served while supplies last at the M.U. Info Desk during their open hours spring term. We would greatly appreciate it if gowns can be returned after, so the program can continue for next year's graduates (instructions above).
For More Information
Please contact Michelle Rucker at the Memorial Union regarding picking up or donating a gown (email or 541-737-7767) or Andrea Norris of Materials Management for general program questions (email).
