Grads Give Back is a new, student-started program seeking to reduce barriers that under-resourced students might experience as they near graduation. In addition to that, the program breathes new life into what are traditionally single-use garments by allowing graduates to donate their gown for someone to use next year.
Grads Give Back is the result of collaboration among staff of Campus Recycling, Associated Students of OSU (ASOSU), Memorial Union, Valley Library, Human Services Resource Center (HSRC), and Sustainability Office.
How to Give Your Gown
Are you graduating and walking in Commencement? Give your gown after the ceremony! You can help another student who may not be able to participate in Commencement otherwise while keeping your cap and cords as a memento.
Gowns can be donated at staffed stations outside Reser Stadium right after Commencement or at the main entrance to the Valley Library, after Commencement through the following Monday (June 15-17). We accept gowns in good condition only (no ripped/damp/damaged gowns and no caps, cords, etc.).
How to Receive a Gown
Students who feel that the cost of purchasing a graduation gown would prevent them from participating in Commencement with their peers are encouraged to pick up a free gown in week three of spring term!
Gown distribution has already passed for 2019 (hosted at the MU Info Desk April 15-19, but all of them were gone by the end of day one). Details for 2020 gowns will be added in late winter or early spring term.
