How-To's

How-to's instructional graphic

Look for an informational door-hanger on or around Memorial Day and labeled donation bins will be placed in your hall* in week 9.

*Note: Donation bins are located on the ground floor of each residence hall (exceptions: bins are located one per floor in Halsell and in the basement of The Gem).

See below guidelines on where to put your stuff:

Food

Must be sealed & non-perishable.

Personal Hygiene and Cleaning Supplies

Soaps, lotions, unused deodorant, laundry soap, spray cleaners, cleaning wipes, etc. Bottles can be unsealed if mostly full.

Clothing, Towels, Bedding

Must be clean, dry & in good condition.

Household Items

Decor, dishes, lamps, etc. Items must be clean, dry, and in working condition. If your item does not fit in the donation bin, place on the ground next to the bin. See large furniture guidelines below.

Large Furniture and Scrap Wood

Place all scrap wood (e.g. loft bed kits), and furniture that doesn’t fit into donation bins, next to your outdoor trash dumpster, on the ground.

Broken Electronics, Ink, and CDs/DVDs

Electronics, CDs & ink cartridges will be recycled if they are not reusable. CDs and DVDs must be in their cases. If your item does not fit in the donation bin, place on the ground next to the bin.

Bicycles

Place unwanted bicycles next to donation bins.

Recycling (Paper, Plastic, Metal, Glass & Cardboard)

Place accepted paper, glass, bottles and cans into the correct slots of the waste receptacle in your residence halls (most residence halls will have the receptacles located on the first floor). All cardboard needs to be taken outside. See what can be recycled

Trash

Any items that can’t be donated or recycled should be taken to the outside dumpster.
