Who are the Waste Watchers?

Waste Watchers conducting a waste auditWaste Watchers is a group run by Campus Recycling whose mission is to engage students and the community in waste reduction at OSU by providing educational programming, meaningful opportunities for action, and empowerment of future leaders.

Waste Watchers Spring Weekly Meetings

  • When: Tuesdays 6:30 pm-8:00 pm (April 2nd - June 4th, 2019) 
  • Location: Student Experience Center (SEC) Room 206 (CCE Office)
  • Join the league of the Waste Watchers - using our knowledge of recycling and sustainability we can educate others and fight the scourge of waste! Stay in the loop by joining our Facebook group

Great Move Out Donation Drive: Res. Halls

  • When: Various shifts are offered between 8am and 9pm, June 10-19th.
  • Locations: Collection shifts depart from the surplus warehouse (644 SW 13th St.) and sorting shifts are hosted at Benton County Fairgrounds (110 SW 53rd St.).
  • What: Campus Recycling, Surplus Property and UHDS are working together to collect donations from residence halls. Shifts are available for collection (joining staff on trucks to collect recyclables and donated items from halls) and sorting (receiving and sorting donated items at the fairgrounds).

Great Move Out Donation Drive: Off Campus

  • When: Various short shifts are offered between 10am and 4pm, Friday, June 14th.
  • Location: Grace Lutheran Church Parking Lot (Harrison St. and Kings Blvd.)
  • What: OSU Community Responsibility and Belonging, Republic Services, and local nonprofits are partnering to maintain the cleanliness and livability of our community, and to help off-campus students responsibly donate and recycle unwanted items.

Grads Give Back: Gown Reuse Program

  • What: Grads Give Back is a new, student-started program that encourages graduates to keep their cap and cords as a memento while giving their gown for reuse by a future graduate in need. We need volunteers to stage collection carts at Commencement, encouraging passersby to donate now or at the Valley Library over the next couple of days. A few days later we need volunteers to help sort, inventory, and store gowns.
  • When: Sat, June 15, 11:45 am – 2:15 pm AND Tue, June 18, 1-4 pm
  • Where: Reser Stadium AND Benton County Fairgrounds
