Division of Finance and Administration colleagues,

Good news! We are almost through the cold, dark and wet months of the winter season here in Oregon. I am excited that the days are getting brighter and longer as we usher in spring. Moving forward, we will focus our efforts toward advancing the bold, exciting and challenging goals of OSU’s new strategic plan, Prosperity Widely Shared. The Senior Leadership Team will be prioritizing those activities and actions that align most with the strategic plan goals. The contributions of DFA's resourceful and innovative employees are vital as the university in reaching the goals of the new strategic plan.

A key element in this work is the DFA Framework for Success, which helps teams focus our operations on the most important things. And, the division’s DEI Advancement Committee is developing recommendations intended to better support people in accomplishing our shared priorities. Learn more about these critical pathways to the DFA’s success in the news stories below.

In the meantime, the division’s senior leaders and I want to recognize the hard work and dedication of the Facilities Services team, who dealt with the dangerous effects of the January ice storm that closed campus operations for three days. Check out the story in the winter issue of the VPFA news to see an impressive photo of the storm damage taken by Landscape Manager Todd Cross.

I recently visited the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx), which will open to the public in April. I’m immensely proud of the work by the University Facilities, Infrastructure and Operations team, particularly the capital project planning and delivery teams and all of the contractors, who came together with the College of Liberal Arts to design and build this beautiful modern performing arts center. I hope you can attend the PRAx Open House event on April 6, which includes an afternoon of free, family-friendly events.

There is so much compelling and important work occurring across the Division of Finance and Administration. Read all about it in the Winter 2024 VPFA News Update below.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Green
Vice President for Finance & Administration / Chief Financial Officer
