As Oregon State’s vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer, Mike Green provides leadership, oversight, and stewardship for all aspects of the university's administrative functions and services, and an annual budget of over $1.2 billion. Reporting to the president, Mike works closely with Provost Ed Feser to ensure that OSU’s resources, infrastructure and services are aligned with the university’s teaching, research and engagement mission. Mike is committed to working with the community to address long-running challenges faced by today’s public universities, with a focus on ensuring transparency and supporting the success of all stakeholders.
After serving as the interim VPFA for nearly two years, Mike became vice president in 2017 following a national search. In this role, he collaborates with the OSU Foundation leadership in support of OSU’s goals, and is a non-voting member of the OSU Board of Trustees’ Finance & Administration Committee. He also represents Oregon State University on statewide higher-education financial matters and sits on oversight committees for services jointly administered for Oregon’s public universities. Mike is an active member of the Oregon public universities’ council of vice presidents of finance and administration, which works to coordinate the allocation of state resources, capital project funding requests and long-range business planning among the institutions.
Prior to joining OSU in 2014 as associate vice president for finance and administration and controller, Mike was with the Oregon University System for 23 years and spent his early career in public accounting. Mike has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oregon State University and is an Oregon Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mike currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Oregon State Credit Union board of directors.
